Urgent Action Needed Today—Tell Your Senator to Move HB 1807 Forward
Dear Colleague,
Our profession has always set the standard for integrity and accountability in health care. Now we must prove it again. HB 1807, the bill that restores strong, transparent oversight of nursing education programs, has stalled in Springfield. Every day of delay leaves students carrying debt without the licensure support they deserve and patients waiting for the well-prepared nurses they need.
Nurses are the most trusted professionals in America, according to Gallup’s annual Honesty and Ethics poll. Legislators respect our voice—but only when they hear it. Let’s make sure they do.
Act now:
Send an email to your State Senator and urge a “Yes” vote on HB 1807.
Share—in your own words—that rigorous oversight protects students, strengthens workforce diversity, and secures safe patient care.
Forward this message to five colleagues and ask them to join you today.
Use the Action Alert (you can personalize the message) send your email before the end of the day. We do not have the luxury of time. Leadership starts with us.
Thank you for standing up for nursing excellence and for every future nurse who counts on our advocacy.
With urgency and respect,
Susan Y. Swart, EdD, MS, RN, CAE
Executive Director, ANA-Illinois
